The Griffin WindowSeat In-Car Mount is for the iPhone and only costs thirty dollars. There are a variety of cost effective car mounts for the iPhone that can be found at various retailers. Included is an extender adds up to six inches in length. The Griffin WindowSeat suction system is very effective with auto glass and will remain attached if applied to a clean window.

Protection for your iPhone 4, save your investment

OtterBox has a new, cheaper, easier to install case for the iPhone. The OtterBox Commuter series is two layers of protection for the case of the iPhone. One layer includes a film layer of clear screen that will protect the iPhone from most damage. With the OtterBox Commuter the speakers, ringer switch and mics are never covered. There is a headphone flip cover and port covers for the dock connector. Other features include an integrated side and top button covers and a combination of hard plastic and soft silicoe frames for the top, bottom, back and sides of the iPhone 4. There is still a cutout for the Apple logo on the back that is debatable as to its value especially since the iPhone 4 is now made with glass on the back. Precise cuts for the cameras and LED flash are great features. The OtterBox Commuter is a simpler but solid alternative to the OtterBox defender and only comes in black.

FlexGrip Punch is a perforated silicon case offered by Griffin. This has been added to the selection of freebie choices in the iPhone 4 case program. The FlexGrip Punch comes in black or white and is made from rubber with holes on the left, right, top and back. There are button covers for the volume controls as well as the Sleep/Wake button. This case by Griffin has larger holes for everything. This case, much like the Incase Perforated Snap Case of hard plastic, allows for the back of the iPhone 4 to display. You will still see hints of the Apple logo in silver as well as the text on the back of the phone. You can even see some of the steel antenna.

This allows for the communication with other ISO/IEC 14443 and NFC cards and devices.

NFC technology works well with contactless and wireless devices and is currently being used in many areas. These areas include the fields of transportation and payments. With this technology you have the ability to swipe cards and pay for items through Barclaycards PayWave. It may also be used to open cars and buy tickets through Oyster cards. Androids and iPhone go into Battle, US Army to use Smartphone Apps

Information is critical for success whether in business, intelligence or warfare. While knowledge is important in many situations in warfare information, or the lack of, may cause completely different outcomes to a battle. With the evolution of abilities and uses for smart phone the US Army is investigating their use by soldiers.

Some examples of the use of an iPhone, for example, would be the location features. Soldiers would be able to locate landmarks, be able to relay exact current location and find the location of injured soldiers. Being able to locate soldiers injured or trapped in a compromising position could mean the difference between life and death or capture and freedom.

This has the Army working with Apple and Google to devise mobile devices suited for battle. In today’s new world of warfare newer methods are being researched to increase capabilities and getting information needed to the appropriate personnel in the timeliest of manner.

In consideration that during military operations more bureaucratic protocols have to be adhered to makes creating ad hoc arrangements that work quite easily in the private sector more challenging. To try to discover methods that can be transferred from private use to effective government use a contest was conducted providing prizes awarded to the most useful innovative ideas. Prizes in the amounts between one and three thousand dollars were awarded. This motivation is an ongoing approach by the Army to encourage innovative development of apps for military purposes.

Why the iPhone Bluetooth headset is so Pricey?

Maybe part of the reason why the iPhone Bluetooth headset is so pricey is that it comes with its own iPhone-charging dock plus a USB travel charger. The charging dock has two slots–one for the iPhone, and one for the Bluetooth headset. Similarly, the USB cable is designed with two slots as well. Pairing the headset with the iPhone couldn’t be easier–simply pop in both the iPhone and the headset into the dock, and voila, they are paired to each other. This is probably the easiest pairing process we’ve ever experienced. Another neat advantage to using the charging dock is both the iPhone and the headset’s battery status show up on the screen, so you always know how much battery life is left on the headset.

The iPhone Bluetooth headset is simple in design as well as features. You get the regular abilities to answer and end calls, but don’t bet on anything like last-number redial or call mute. You can also switch calls back and forth from the headset to the iPhone and vice versa. Also, we should note that you can indeed use the iPhone Bluetooth headset with other phones, but the pairing process won’t be as smooth.

Wi-Fi Quadricopter – the Flying Video Game for the iPhone

Released in Europe and coming to the US ARDrone is being advertised as a flying video game and a Wi-Fi quadricopter. This is a significant accomplishment considering this is a first-generation game. However, with a price of three hundred dollars it should deliver a lot.

The AR.Drone is a hovercraft type device that flys and you control it with your iPhone. Free Flight is the free app needed to control the drone over a Wi-Fi network. With the iPhone you can actually see from inside the helicoptor with two on-board cameras.

As far as the flying machine is concerned it is pre-assembled and includes a removable hull. There is one Lithium-Polymer battery, AC adapter, recharger, stickers, tags for gaming and instructional guides. Do not throw out the stickers as they are used in the games.

The hulls of the machine is manufactured of Styrofoam to help minimize weight and magnets are used to hold them together. You can purchase additional hulls in different colors for twenty to thirty dollars.

The run time for the AR.Drone is about fifteen minutes when the Lithium-Polymer battery is fully charged. Which is about ten minutes more than many RC helicopters. You can get more flying time, up to sixty minutes, if you do not fly it continuously. It is recommended that you purchase an additional battery as it can take ninety minutes to recharge.

While Free Flight is the only apps that works with the AR.Drone it has been announced that Flying Ace should be available later this year. Flying Ace will allow multiple Drone owners to have dogfights.

New Technology soon to come to the iPhone

Today more than ever people use their smart phones to do more and more. Apple is always looking into new and innovative ways to make the iPhone the most indispensable device you can own. In that effort Apple hired Benjamin Vigier in 2004. Mr. Migier is an NFC, near field communication, expert. His area of expertise focuses on contactless processes.

In his job with Apple he as the new product manager is looking into the section of the market related to mobile commerce. Formerly an employee of mFoundry where he managed mobile wallet and payment applications. His experience includes examining the mobile services of PayPal as well as Starbucks barcode payment system. He also has developed and manages mobile wallet apps for two major networks in the US as well as for three US banks. His resume includes work at SanDisk and Bouygues Telecom.

He may be instrumental in the application of the latest patents from Apple; iPay, iCoupons and iBuy. These patents look to the mobile market and commerce businesses that are NFC enabled for iPhones. These apps would allow users to be able to use their debit card, credit card, or iTunes credit as payments. Potentially you could book, ticket and issue a boarding pass for you next flight allowing you to bypass security clearances and facilitating your check in. Another feature mentioned include file transfers through a Grab and Go patent.

Apple is always looking for ways to make life easier as well as making their company more money in the process.

Verizon Users would Love to Own the iPhone

It is estimated the over half of all Verizon users would purchase an iPhone if they could stay with Verizon. If Apple launched a Verizon iPhone it would take a significant share or the market from both Sprint and AT&T. While the rumor of a Verizon iPhone has been circulating for quite some time it may be closer to reality than ever. Apple has been rumored to be testing a prototype CDMA device, the type of network Verizon phones must be.

If an iPhone for the Verizon network does ever become a reality many customers may choose to switch from either Sprint or AT&T. Customers of AT&T have not had a very favorable experience with AT&T as service provider especially with the iPhone. Estimates believe that almost one fourth of AT&T iPhone owners would switch to Verizon when they have the option. Additionally over forty percent of Sprint and T-Mobile customers would switch to Verizon if they had an iPhone.

If Verizon is aware that they will be getting an iPhone to offer to consumers they should ramp up their network in order to handle the increased demand for bandwidth. If they do not they may not have any happier customers than AT&T does.

What really puzzling in all this is that Apple never feels the pain of customer dissatisfaction with the performance of the iPhone. Most users believe that all deficiencies are the fault of the cellular carrier. Would you switch to Verizon if you had the choice?
